Question ~ Why is the Trudeau government refusing to take action on money laundering in Canada?

Context : Supplementary Question

Mr. Peter Julian (New Westminster—Burnaby, NDP): Mr. Speaker, the fact is the Liberals are protecting the web giants from paying taxes, and that is irresponsible.

Now, a B.C. report estimates that money laundering in Canada, under the Liberals, now reaches close to $50 billion annually. Money laundering is not a victimless crime, and it has caused a major increase in home prices in the Lower Mainland and elsewhere. The Liberal government refuses to crack down on rampant money laundering. It failed to allocate staffing and resources; it refused the necessary tools.

Why is the government refusing to take these actions, and who are they protecting now?

L’hon. Diane Lebouthillier (ministre du Revenu national, Lib.): Monsieur le Président, le gouvernement connait l'importance d'assurer un marché de l'immobilier juste pour tous les Canadiens. C'est pourquoi l'Agence a augmenté les vérifications des transactions immobilières en Colombie-Britannique et en Ontario.

Depuis octobre 2015, ces vérifications ont donné lieu à des cotisations de plus de 794 millions de dollars. Les investissements de 50 millions de dollars qui ont été prévus dans le budget de 2019 vont permettre à l'Agence d'accroître ses efforts en créant quatre nouvelles équipes consacrées à la vérification immobilière.

Permettez-moi d'être clair, les fraudeurs fiscaux ne pourront plus se cacher!

They are left with many questions about how this toxic culture is allowed to persist in our sports organizations and what the government is actually doing to ensure this doesn’t happen again.
