A Green New Deal

Saving…

I am joining my voice to the thousands of Canadians and dozens of Members of Parliament who have expressed their support for a made-in-Canada Green New Deal.

We are all calling on the Government of Canada to address this climatic emergency with the ambition and urgency required, on behalf of present and future generations.

Reconciliation with Indigenous peoples and the recognition of inherent rights, title and treaty rights, must be at the heart of Canada’s approach to addressing the climate emergency.

I call on the federal government and all MPs to endorse Motion M-1, a made-in-Canada Green New Deal, which calls on Canada:

  • to fully implement the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP);
  • to promote justice and equity by stopping current, preventing future, and repairing historic oppression of frontline and vulnerable communities;
  • to take bold & rapid action to tackle the climate emergency and address worsening socio-economic & racial inequalities at the same time; and
  • to support workers impacted by the transition in the shift to a just, clean, renewable, low-carbon energy economy.
